and laptops, players and mostly smart phones. It is with this increased access
that these devices have become an important part of our everyday life. As such,

Investigating Sleep and
Use of Electronic Devices

I therefore investigated this case based on
a study conducted on 10,220 adolescents that were born between the years 1993
and 1995.The average age of the participants was 17 years, with the sample
being made up of 53.5 % of girls and 46.5% of boys, n=5252 and n=4594, respectively.
Due to inaccuracies in the data computation variables negative values such as
sleep duration and efficiency, the finally tally on the sample was 9875.

the participants used at least six types of electronic devices in the bedroom

Sleep variables

The sleep duration of the participants,
the time they went to sleep and the time they woke up were indicated, both for
the weekdays and the weekends. The Time in Bed (TIB) was a difference ofthe
time between getting in to bed, and rising up in the morning. The Sleep Onset
Latency (SOL) and the wake after sleep onset (WASO) were also variables in the calculation

there was reduced sleep duration as a result of using electric devices during
bed time. The outcome was identified to be between 8 to 9 hours. There was no
